Stormy Start to June for Lake Tahoe

June 10, 2009

Unseasonably wet weather has affected the Tahoe Basin for several weeks now. Keeping temperatures well below average and furthermore helping preserve the Sierra snowpack. While this may delay the opening of many area mountain bike trails, I am pleased to still see snow on the mountains. The famous “t” on Mt. Tallac has retained much snow to date and most tributaries are still heavily flowing. All been said, I believe the snowy mountains will keep Californians thinking about next ski season. A few Heavenly ski rental shops have closed due the recent recession, however many local ski companies keep high expectations for the coming ski season. If all turns out right, we might just be renting some Heavenly ski rentals next year!!!
