One of the most important features of a car in Heavenly valley that gets neglected, the tires, can really make a difference in the life of a car. Living in South Lake Tahoe, you really have to pay attention to your tire tread and be aware of how worn it is. How little is too little, this is the big question. This really is essential during the winter months and to ensure a safe ride around town. Many locals will find themselves trying to push the life of the tire further than it should safely go. Just last year, on New Years Eve, I was guilty of such a mentality. I was driving out of a shopping center and the snow burms had been built to the point where one could not see around the corner. At about five miles an hour, I came around the enbankment to find another truck directly in front of me. I pumped my brakes and low and behold I skidded right into her. I tried my hardest to steer out of the way but to no avail, we connected and it was a headache. Later that night I inspected my truck, and the tires, and I realized that it was all due to the lack of tread. Luckily none of my new ski or snowboard rentals were in the truck or they would have been destroyed. So, word to the wise = Check your tires and make sure you replace the ones that need it, it could save you a huge headache or even your life in the future.
