So it was Father’s Day and I decided to go for a ride down Jackie Chan’s chinese downhill. As I was getting my gear together, I remembered i had thrown out my old MTB shoes. Eager to ride, I had to stop by a local Heavenly ski rental shop to pick myself up a new pair of shoes. Pleasantly surprised when an employee, Jay, helped me find a great shoe. My gripe is that this was the only shoe that they had in my size. Nonetheless, I decided to spend the $120 and get to the trailhead. I’ve always used sneaker-style spd MTB shoes, and wasn’t to excited about these new Specialized XC Comp shoes. But when I got on trail, they felt so natural and were so lightweight. They gave me extra stability and increased climbing efficiency. After mobbing down the trail, I passed that same Heavenly ski rental shop and had no regrets about my recent purchase.
